Board extremities a little worn and foxing of rear flyleaf and last two pages of text; otherwise a very good copy. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. The nineteenth novel (other than the Pop Larkin series) of H. E. Bates (1905-74), Northamptonshire born writer, who lived in Kent from 1931. The setting is Southern England during the Battle of Britain summer of 1940.
