8vo. 7.25 x 5.5 inches. xv + [i] + 257 pp. Bound in original blue cloth, with bevelled edges, gilt, Patterned endpapers. Some wear to extremities, including head and tail of spine, and slight foxing of edges; otherwise a very good bright clean copy. 1927 gift inscription on third free endpaper with letter in envelope from same donor to same recipient. Illustrated by 8 black and white plates, including frontispiece, signed by Trevor Haddon. A history of England from Roman times to the reign of Queen Victoria, with an emphasis on the Christian church. By George Henry Frederick Nye, who published on the history of the Church of England and on the Oxford Movement, With the artwork of Trevor Haddon (1864-1941), painter and illustrator.
