4to. 9.75 x 15.25 inches. Single sheet ballad with old fold line, printed in four columns. Broadside ballad. Some age related fraying of edges and browning of paper. A very good copy with all text intact. Decorated by woodblock of sailing ship below title. Popular ballad relating the tale of the Dover Seaman with ''excellent parts for strength and learning,' and of ' A beautiful lady whose name it was Ruth, A squire's young daughter, near Sandwich in Kent.' The verses relate all the difficulties and challenges their love has to overcome before they are finally able to wed.
