12mo. 7 x 4.5 inches. l + 276 pp. Bound in contemporary calf, gilt; spine in compartments with raised bands, decorated gilt, with contrasting black title label, gilt. Marbled endpapers. Some wear to extremities, including head and tail of spine; otherwise a very good copy. The Seasons, the influential blank verse long poem celebrating the landscape of the countryside, by the Scottish poet, James Thomson (1700-48) was first published in four parts, 1726-1730. Additional material appeared in later editions and this of 1824, includes includes a life of the author by John Williams.
