Small 8vo. 8 x 5.25 inches. vi + 86 + [1] pp. Bound in original blue cloth, gilt, in unclipped pictorial dust wrapper, which has sunned spine and top edges; otherwise a very good copy. Decorate by publisher's device on title page. English translation of Le Taxi, a love story told entirely in dialogue, by French writer, Violette Leduc (1907-72), first published 1971. Her best known work was La Batarde (1964), a memoir, and there were several film dramatisations of her other, often erotic, writings: 'to a certain extent all her books are about herself, whether they are written in fictionalised form or as a straight autobiography' (TLS quoted on rear wrapper).
